Who we are:

The Lumen Foundation for Enrichment & Advancement (“The Lumen Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas.


1) Scope

and related pages, submit forms, donate, volunteer, register for programs/events, or interact with our emails and social content. It does not cover third-party sites we link to or tools we do not control.

  • Program/volunteer applications and interest forms (e.g., age range, availability, interests, accessibility needs)
  • Donation details (amount, designation, tribute info); payment info is processed by our payment vendors — we do not store full card numbers

8) Donor privacy

We value donor trust. We do not sell or trade donor personal information. Limited donor data may be shared with processors (e.g., payment platforms) solely to process gifts and provide acknowledgments and tax receipts.


9) Volunteers and program participants

Information collected to coordinate volunteer service or program participation (e.g., scheduling, orientation, role eligibility, accessibility needs) is used only for mission-related operations and recordkeeping, subject to our volunteer and program terms.


10) Children’s privacy

Our programs sometimes serve youth through schools or community partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate consent through a parent/guardian, school, or authorized program partner. If you believe a child provided personal information without consent, contact us and we will take appropriate action.


11) Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described above, comply with legal and audit requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When no longer needed, we take steps to delete or de-identify data.


12) Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information (e.g., access controls, encryption in transit where applicable, least-privilege access). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.


13) Your choices & rights

Email preferences:

Use unsubscribe links in our emails or contact us to manage preferences.

Access, correction, deletion:

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information (subject to legal/operational needs).

California/EEA/UK residents:

You may have additional rights (e.g., portability, objection, restriction). We honor these rights consistent with applicable laws and verification requirements.

Do Not Track:

Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

If you access our site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. We take steps to help ensure appropriate safeguards where required.
